A CNC dividing head
Here's a random collection of pics. I appreciate that there's almost no detail here.E-Mail me if you'd like to know more.
Whilst at an auction I picked up this dividing head:
I had a bit of a play with it and decided that those dividing wheels were a late night gotcha just waiting to happen! They were given to a good home and a buddy made a mount for an NEMA23 stepper and coupling.
Now we're talking!
The little hand held controller just takes 24V in, has a one knob that you can twist and push, a microstepping driver and can move:
- To a particular position (absolute mode)
- A fixed amount each time the knob is pressed (relative mode)
- A set division of 360 degrees (divide mode)
But this is by no means the only use we've put it to:
Here it is set up on Daves plasma cutter with a MIG torch posed menacingly nearby!
Dave needed to accuratley hardface some steel tube. This did the trick!
